Project Description

At BioAjustament we also work on menstrual pains and mismatches and all that comes with the fact that having different symptoms caused by these mismatches. An essential part of the accompaniment that is done with BioAjustament is to use specific exercises to balance our body, release from pain, teach what you can do and understand why and why it is happening to you.

Here you have a brief explanation of why and where some problems related to it may come from.

Let’s try to explain how our physical body is related to disorders and pains during our menstruation. In Osteopathy we have a vision of the body as an inseparable unit: A physical part, a part of the nervous system and a part of the fluids of the body and would also include the emotional part.

Menstruation problems can be caused by a totally physical or mechanical problem. The uterus attaches to the bones of the pelvis through its ligaments. For example, the sacrum is related to the uterus through sacrouterine ligaments.

If the bones are locked in a position other than yours or the ligaments are in tension, they can cause the uterus malfunction and can cause pain.

Let’s visualize our uterus before our Moon (menstruation, rule…) is going to leave our body: the uterus is larger, full of blood and weighs more than normal.

The uterus pulls the ligaments and we can feel pain in the lower back or even the belly because of the position where the uterus is, in the middle of the bladder, intestines, colon… As it is widened and larger, it has no room and it begins to pull fascias and tissues, causing pain.

There may also be a strain on the abdominal diaphragm, pressing the pelvis, causing our uterus to suffer from pressure.

(In the image we can see the difference in size of one menstruating uterus, in red, and the other at rest position).

This is where our nervous system could come in, too.

The autonomous nervous system sends information to our uterus, saying what to do (e.g. ovulate, do not ovulate, do this, do that…). Nerves leave the sacroiliac area (from our sacrum), so any blockage in this part can also cause problems, altering the functioning of the uterus.

Emotionally we could talk about stress and what this causes: a disorder in our body and in our hormones. One of them, to talk about some, progesterone, is elaborated in the ovaries. Among its many functions is to adjust the menstrual cycle and intervene in the effects of estrogen, so that they do not exceed their stimulation of cell growth.

When a woman is subjected to stressful situations or contexts for a long time, progesterone production decreases, causing a lot of effects and symptoms such as extreme fatigue, weight gain, headaches, mood disturbances and lack of sexual desire.
